This Supply chain management Head of Logistics & Distribution position while predominately based in Elton, will cover the UK logistics and distribution operations (Including Northern Ireland) and will require occasional travel to our sites there and occasionally to 3rd party partners.

The key purpose for the Head of Logistics & Distribution is to lead the logistics operations of transport fleet, long–range stock, transport & distribution planning, external warehouse capacity and management of external logistics providers

Qualities we look for;

In–depth understanding of the factors involved in operating an efficient logistics network to support manufacturing operations and a varied customer base ranging from other manufacturing sites to complex retail customers
Detailed knowledge of managing third party logistics partners and how to drive performance and efficiency
Degree or other equivalent level of qualification or experience, preferably in supply chain, logistics, operations or business administration is beneficial MCIPS or CILT qualification and accreditation is highly desirable
Knowledge of planning inbound and outbound stock movements and controlling logistics capacity across both domestic and international networks
Understanding of the key drivers in customer service, manufacturing, transport and warehousing operations and how this is integrated with logistics operations
A strong knowledge of the full product lifecycle together with an understanding of the factors that have a material impact on costs
Significant experience in and detailed knowledge of the end–to–end logistics operations across multiple business units
A working knowledge of supply chain systems and processes within a manufacturing environment (e.g. Order Management Systems, Warehouse Management Systems, Transport Management Systems, Inventory Management Systems and ERP systems esp. SAP)
A high degree of commercial understanding of operations
An understanding of how to integrate sustainability throughout all processes and decision making in supply to create more value socially, environmentally and financially
Experience managing and controlling an automated storage and retrieval systemEssential Functional / Technical Skills

Proven ability to develop, manage and motivate high performing teams in a matrix management environment
Proven ability to manage complex projects, successfully resolve highly complex issues and utilise internal network and relationships to reach solutions
Flexibility and ability to adapt and lead change and make operational and commercial decisions based on those changes
Excellent level of communication skills across different levels within the organisation
Experience leading multi–functional teams in a 24/7 operation to deliver the business KPIs and plans
Experience of establishing and fostering a culture of team work, continuous professional development, inclusion and high performance to enable team members to meet their potential and perform of their best
Ability to establish robust talent and succession plans
Have implemented more than one Logistics Management or Supply Chain system, to include ERP systems esp. SAP.Apply now, to be considered.

Responsibilities overview;

Develop the site logistics teams in efficient distribution; coach and develop the teams to drive consistent and sustainable high performance in all areas every day.
Ensure site results meet or exceed logistics service and cost performance targets.
Drive VOS A3 & CI action planning across all sites Logistics & Distribution teams.
Ensure compliance to new border regulations for Irish Sea movements and cross channel into EU.
Create and oversee Logistics external (buffer) warehousing strategy ensuring cost and service targets are fully achieved.
Lead the optimisation of Stock across the Logistics network implementing plans and processes to control SLOB (aged stock, scrap) and control pallet base levels in conjunction with business functions.
Develop supplier relationships with 3rd Party Logistics providers, conducting regular performance reviews.
Ensure logistics performance is visible through a suite of KPI's, completing root cause analysis and developing actions plans as required. Create a business review with Logistics Leadership team on cost and service performance.
